This house has a rather special history.
In England in the 1940s, a father made this house for his daughter. She grew up, married and moved to Australia. When she had a daughter of her own, the grandfather partly redecorated the house, refurnished it, and sent it from England to Australia, ‘from Grandpa with love’.
The house doesn’t follow the usual rules of doll houses. It is two rooms deep and is designed for maximum play with access from two sides and via the removable roof. It features a nursery and bathroom either side of a small entrance hall with a short flight of stairs. Details include a cistern with chain above the toilet. The back rooms both feature fireplaces with solid mantlepieces. There is a bay window on the side wall of the larger living room.
The work of love must have cost a small fortune to ship from England as it is large and heavy.
