When I first started my journey into miniatures, I never realised what an obsession it would become.
“This was the first house I worked on, having been introduced to miniatures two years earlier. Overwhelmed by the different periods and styles of doll houses, it was easiest to replicate the world around me.
I commissioned the house structure then papered, wired, wallpapered, carpeted and decorated my 1990s home. It is decorated with a mix of commercial miniature furniture and kit items, which I constructed. The accessories in the house were made by me, purchased or acquired via swaps within the miniature communities in America, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, Belgium and Australia.
I remember at the time how difficult it was to acquire a nice kitchen and asked one of our local traders (Brookfield Miniatures) to source the kitchen from the United States. Since making the house the odd item has subsequently been added, I don’t think a house is ever complete…. “
