Enjoy this late nineteenth century time capsule.

This grand Georgian style house was purchased by the collector a number of years ago. The history of the house is unknown but it is believed to have come from the Geelong area.
The house has a number of interesting features. Unlike most doll houses, this house has side windows as well as front ones, giving the interior lovely light effects. The house also has a lock on the front indicating that it was a precious and special item.
A study of the house exterior paintwork reveals evidence that it once had verandahs or balconies across the front. The house is also on castors and these are stamped with the manufacturer’s details - Acme Ball Bearing Caster Company, USA. The patent is for 1899 but the castors may have been applied to the house at a later date.
The house was purchased fully furnished and it appears that the house interiors, wallpapers, floors and furnishings are original to the period. It appears that the house was one child’s play house, which was abandoned and never added to or refreshed - a wonderful time capsule for future generations.
