Barbie’s latest abode is a marked change from her first modest 1962 studio apartment. The three-storey house has a commanding presence and is not designed to be packed up and put away when not in play. Reflecting changes in material technology, this house is plastic in contrast to the earlier cardboard home.
Fitted out with all the conveniences and features that a twenty first century doll could desire, Barbie’s latest dream house is designed for entertaining, access and flexible living. Furniture flips around to create additional beds and entertaining options, there is a carport, pool with a slide and a home office.
For the first time in the history of Barbie’s home renovations, this house contains a working lift to accommodate a wheelchair.
